The funding environment is a challenge for new and established investigators. HCSRN has gathered seasoned researchers from HCSRN institutions to share their experience and expertise in getting the most out of your relationships with some of the nation’s leading funders. This interactive session will provide insights on developing and executing big center grants, setting up institutions on multisystem grant submissions and funding large pragmatic trials. Bring your questions on contracting, data sharing, finding institutional collaborators and more for real world advice on navigating the funding process.

9:15 AM -10:30 AM Program Officers Roundtable

Program Officers are responsible for programmatic, scientific, and technical aspects of most funding platforms making them an integral part of the grant process. During this interactive session, gain insights directly from POs how to successfully secure research funding. During this session attendees will

  • Hear about upcoming strategic priorities from each agency;
  • Gain a better understanding of the Program Officer’s role;
  • Learn how to build relationships with your Program Officer;
  • Receive advice navigating funding timelines;
  • Understand grant review process;

Attendees will have the opportunity to share ideas and network directly with funders.

The federal government is the largest funder of academic research, but there are a variety of alternative funding sources that might be pursued. In this session, we will highlight non-government funding opportunities available through private industry and for-profit organizations. Our senior scientists will
