Health Care Systems Research Network (HCSRN)

Established in 1994, the Health Care Systems Research Network (HCSRN) has conducted research that improves population health and the delivery of health care.  With 19 innovative institutional members committed to realizing the aspiration of a true national learning health system, the HCSRN can carry out population-based research in a manner unmatched by other US health research networks.

The foremost source of population-based research improving health and health care

  • We conduct public-domain research in real-world settings. Our organizations work together to create a network of learning health care systems where innovation and improving care are top priorities.
  • Our scientific and research staff is more than 2,000 members strong – and growing. Our scientists have expertise in health services, behavioral science, epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, and many other fields.
  • We are an integral part of the U.S. research enterprise thanks to longstanding partnerships with federal funders, universities, other major research organizations, and through leadership in important national initiatives such as the FDA Sentinel medical product safety system, CDC Vaccine Safety Data network, NIH Collaboratory, other NIH-funded initiatives including the Mental Health Research Network and previously the Cancer Research Network. and PCORnet.
